Our British Sage Bundles are made in our shop in Wales with locally grown British sage, lavender and other flowers from our town and surrounding villages. They are hand-tied and air dried, and contain frankincense resin and incense for a fragrant and easy burn that is sure to cleanse your space.
These beautiful Sage, Lavender and Rose bundles are made from locally grown ingredients and hand-tied by me (Didi) - this process was taught by my wonderful Venezualan friend Adriana - and all the herbs are grown less than 2 miles from my shop here in Wales.

Californian White Sage has increased in popularity in the Western World, but it is my belief that smudging with locally grown ingredients is far more powerful and protective than using White Sage originating in California. Added to the ethical implications of taking white sage away from the indigenous peoples who use it as a core part of their spiritual practices, and the carbon footprint that is created by importation, UK grown sage is a far better choice.
It makes sense to use herbs that are grown on our own land, not just to save on our carbon footprint and air miles, but also to support the local economy and utilise ingredients that we already have growing here in the UK, especially for the spiritual intention of cleansing our sacred spaces.
Traditionally “smudge” sticks or Herb Bundles can be used for cleansing of the aura, for example before meditation or prayer, or they are quite often used by body workers and therapists before treatments. “Smudging” is a Native American term but the tradition of burning local herbs has long been used to connect to the spiritual realm or enhance intuition. Burning sage and other herbs can lift one’s mood it could also be a great ally against stress.
The practice of burning herbs to cleanse the space and aura is fairly simple, a seashell or bowl of ceramic, clay dishs, or glass to hold burning sage or capture ash, optional you can use feather or fan for fanning smoke to make it go further.
Sage is used to get rid of negative influences, by burning the plant. During this process a sharp spicy aroma is released. It’s stronger than its counterpart Palo Santo, although White sage is used more often. The original Latin name of this power plant is Salvia Apiana and it grows 100% naturally.
